Re: Zoom Chats for New/Expecting Parents
4/10/20
Hi All,
I wanted to reach out today and see if anyone was in need of social interaction, but I thought that I should make it more specific - are you in need of community? Are you struggling with finding support due to the limitations put in place because of the coronavirus?
So often when we are nesting and planning for our little one, or after our little one joins the family, we reach out to family and friends, community groups, me-and-baby-yoga groups, new parenting groups, etc., and that gave me a great idea! If there is anyone who is interested in joining a group video chat with other new or expecting parents, shoot me a text or email!
I will host two separate video calls for as many people who are interested; one for expecting parents and one for new parents. For expecting parents, we may cover such topics as: birth locations, birthing during a pandemic, fears and support, relaxation techniques, highs and lows, and so on. and for new parents, we can talk about such things as: breastfeeding, pumping, parental leave during a pandemic, sibling support, and so much more. I think that with all the goings-on, it is important now more than ever to have people who know what you are going through be part of your village. Raising a baby is already an exciting new challenge, but that doesn't mean you should have to do it alone!
So, if you're interested, again, shoot me a text or reply to this email and I'll send out the formal invite next week.
Side note: those with due dates in the next 3 weeks, please make sure your phones are ready for virtual support. Set me as a speed dial if that would be useful or make sure your FaceTime/Skype/Zoom app is downloaded and up to date.
Happy Weekend,
Amy the Doula
P.S. I had another amazing birth yesterday! Virtual support intermittently from 11pm-6am, in-person home support from 7-8:30am, drove with them to the hospital, baby was born at 8:50am! What a ride!
